| Welcome to the Atlanta Police Department's web site. Atlanta is located on the northern border of Hamilton County and is neighbors to Tipton, Indiana. To the south of us is Arcadia and Cicero.
Atlanta was established in 1885, and was previously called Buena Vista. Some say the renaming of the town was done due to the beauty of the southern city by the same name and the influence of the men returning from the War between the States. The town is home to 760 residents. Atlanta is a quiet little town and it remains that way until September every year when the New Earth Festival brings hundreds of vendors and thousands of people to our streets. The police department has come a long way since its' early days. Our officers are as dedicated and professionally trained as any department in Hamilton County.
